REPORT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT – 2023-2024

I am very glad to present the 60th sports day Report of the Department of Physical Education for the year 2023-2024.

Activities for this year started with the preparation of students to compete in various games like Kabaddi, Volleyball, Handball, Badminton, Chess and Athletic events at the University and District level tournaments, and they have participated the same.

• MEN KABADDI TEAM
• Our college Participated in the Vethamonickam Memorial C S I Polytechnic College Viricode, Marthandam and won the trophy and got a cash prize of rupees 3000/-.
• CM trophy tournament and won the trophy and got a cash prize of rupees 36000/-.
• Our college Participated in the Immanuel Arasar College Nattalam. and won the Third prize.
• Our college men kabaddi team participated in the MSU Inter- collegiate kabaddi tournament held at Lekshmipuran College Of Arts & Scince , Neyyoor
• Sathivel I B.A. History, was selected for University Men kabaddi team and participated in South zone Inter-University tournament held at ADITYA University, ANDHRA

• Women kabaddi
• Our women Kabaddi team is one of the best team at the University level, and, we have some notable achievements in Kabaddi during the year 2023-2024.
• This year our college women kabaddi team won the overall championship trophy in district championship competition.
• Our college Participated in the CM trophy tournament and won the trophy and got a cash prize of rupees 36000/-.

• Santhiya III B.A. History, was selected for University women kabaddi team and participated in South zone Inter-University tournament held at ALAGAPPA University, KARAIKUDI

• I specially thank Kavi, our Alumni, Sub-Inspector of Police for his effective training for the achievement of the women Kabaddi team.
• Men Handball Team
• Our college men Handball team participated in the KK District Handball tournament held at St Alphonsa College, Karungal.

• Women Handball Team
• Our college women Handball team participated in the MSU Inter- collegiate Handball tournament held at KR College, Karungal.

• Women Football Team
• Our college women Handball team participated in the MSU Inter- collegiate Football tournament held at M S University Tiruelveli.
• Rethi III B.A. History, was selected for University women Football team and participated in South zone Inter-University tournament held at CALICUT University, Malappuram.

• Athletics
• Tamilnadu State level Inter University Men & Women Athletics Championship -2024 Overall Champion Fourth prize.

• The following students participated the Tamilnadu Inter University tournament at various level compaction

• Intramural Competitions

  In this year 2022 – 2023 Department of physical Education conducted various Sports and games such as  Volleyball, , Throwball, Handball, And Athletics for students and Staff.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MSU Inter Collegiate Men kABADDI Tournament

MS University Cross Country Tournament was organized by our college in which 57 Colleges participants took part and it was a massive success. This accomplishment was possible only by the support and cooperation of the committee members, faculty and student volunteers.

                    The Director of Physical Education Dr.A. Jerin Jose was nominated as the selection committee member by the M.S.University for Women Handball, teams for the academic year 2023-2024.  He has represented as M.S University women handball team coach held at Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam.

          Sports Committee headed by the Principal Dr. K. Chithamparathanu Pillai has been rendering valuable guidance for the effective functioning of the department.  I take this opportunity to thank my colleagues, members of the sports committee, and students for their sincere Co-operation. 

            I extend my special gratitude and thanks for our college secretary Prof.K. Rajagopal, society secretary Mr.K.Ramesh and also the college committee members for their encouragement and constant support.
